PHC Products: A Brief Breakdown
The cannabis family contains hundreds of cannabinoids, both natural and synthetic, that the scientific community is not yet done discovering. One of the newest additions to this growing family is PHC, a newly discovered and elusive compound made from chemically altering THC. But what kind of effects do PHC products offer? And how do they compare to all your favorite cannabinods?
Discover the answers down below!
What is PHC?
Unlike better-known cannabinoids like THC and CBD, which have been recognized and studied for decades, PHC is a newly discovered compound, and thus doesn’t count on a plethora of scientific studies. This means that there isn't currently much information on the compound, but here’s what we know.
PHC is short for Hydrox4phc, a synthetic cannabinoid derived from delta 9. Now, don’t let the term “synthetic” scare you. PHC isn't a non-classical synthetic cannabinoid like K2 or Spice, whose chemical structures are unrelated to that of THC. By synthetic, all we mean is that PHC does not naturally occur in the cannabis plant, but it is created from naturally occurring cannabinoids via a specialized chemical process.
We also know that once PHC enters your system, it is converted into 99% THC, delivering an intensely potent psychoactive experience. Because it is so powerful, it is advised that you consume the compound in small doses and observe how your body reacts before going crazy.
Again, the compound is so new that scientists haven’t had the time to study its effects or uncover any proven benefits, but that doesn’t mean we know nothing about the cannabinoid and its properties. From what we gather from anecdotal evidence, users of PHC tend to feel blissful in the body and mind, and that bliss is often accompanied by a soothing sensation that causes the body to relieve tension and leave you feeling light as a feather. Many report that PHC’s high is strikingly similar to taking a delta 9 edible.
Other reported effects of PHC include:
- Euphoria
- Relaxation
- Relief from anxiety
- Stress reduction
- Overall happiness
It’s worth noting that these effects are simply noted by its users, not yet backed up by any scientific research. Additionally, everybody’s endocannabinoid system is different, so PHC may not affect you in the same way as it does other people.
How Strong is PHC?
Although we still have a lot to learn about PHC, we do know that its psychoactive potency is already making it extremely popular among cannabis users. The compound’s high is relatively potent and is often accompanied by intense bliss and a euphoric effect that potentially lasts longer than the euphoric feelings achieved with other cannabinoid-based products that seem to only make up for a short phase of the high.
As the compound turns into 99% THC once it enters your body, be sure to start low and slow with your dosage and work your way up to a high that feels comfortable for you. Dosing isn't an exact science, even for well-established cannabinoids, because it depends on individual factors like age, weight, rate of metabolism, and desired effects. This means that your best route to a positive and comfortable experience is taking low doses and allowing your body the time to react to the compound’s psychoactive properties before going all in.
How Are PHC Products Made?
We’ve already mentioned that PHC is a semi-synthetic compound, which means that it does not exist naturally in the cannabis plant but is created with natural hemp material that is chemically modified to produce the final product.
In essence, scientists extract an existing molecule from cannabis, such as CBD or THC, and then trigger a series of chemical reactions that force that compound to turn into a new molecule. Because all cannabinoids stem from CBGA, or cannabigerolic acid, they all have similar molecular structures. This means that virtually any cannabinoid’s chemical structure can be rearranged to form the structure of another, which is the case in the creation of PHC.
Is PHC Legal?
PHC is legal in the United States in accordance with the Farm Bill of 2018. Also known as the Agriculture Improvement Act, the Farm Bill effectively legalized hemp and hemp-derived compounds containing no more than 0.3% THC at the federal level. Although PHC converts to THC in your system, it is not technically considered THC, so as long as your PHC products are derived from hemp-based compounds, they are considered legal.
Even so, some states have heavily restricted or banned hemp-derived cannabinoids within their jurisdictions, which means that PHC is likely illegal in the following states:
- Alaska
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Colorado
- Delaware
- Hawaii
- Idaho
- Iowa
- Mississippi
- Montana
- Nevada
- New York
- North Dakota
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- Utah
- Vermont
- Washington
Are PHC Products Safe?
Any product derived from cannabis is considered safe and natural. Unlike other drugs and medications, which can often result in addiction or fatal overdose, PHC’s side effects are relatively mild. Most of cannabis’ side effects result from consuming too much of it, so be sure to start with a small dose and give your body time to react before upping the dosage.
The side effects of PHC are thought to be similar to those of THC, which include:
- Dry mouth
- Dry eyes
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Confusion
- Temporary memory loss
- Paranoia
The most important safety standard to consider when using PHC is where you’re sourcing your cannabinoid products. It is safe to purchase PHC products as long as they are sourced from reputable retailers. Since hemp-derived cannabinoids are not monitored by the FDA, it's important to find a company that shares your values regarding safety and quality. There are a number of manufacturers creating and selling hemp compounds, but only a few can be trusted.
We use American-grown, pesticide and herbicide-free, organic hemp for all of our products. Our extraction processes are run by qualified and knowledgeable scientists who prioritize safety and quality. We also conduct rigorous third-party lab testing on all of our cannabinoids to ensure that they meet high standards of purity, potency, and quality.
How Do PHC Products Compare to Other Cannabinoids?
Out of all the cannabinoids we offer, PHC products are most similar to delta 9. Because the compound essentially turns into THC once it enters the body, its effects are thought to be almost exactly alike not only in the sense of the actual benefits, but also potency-wise. Other psychoactive compounds, such as THCO and THCP, which have the potential to be much stronger than regular THC, are also much stronger than PHC. But cannabinoids like delta 8, delta 10, and HHC are milder than delta 9, and therefore are thought to also be milder than PHC.

Additionally, PHC is different from other cannabinoids like CBD, CBT, and CBN in the sense that it is psychoactive, while those other compounds are not. So, if you still want to reap the benefits of cannabis without experiencing its psychoactive effects, these compounds may be a better fit for you. Below is a chart detailing each compound’s effects:

PHC: Some Final Thoughts
PHC is a new and exciting compound that has recently caught the attention of scientists and cannabis users alike. Although it has not yet been researched extensively, the compound seems to share a similar safety and effect profile to THC, the most prominent and popular cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant.
With PHC, you get unadulterated euphoria and full-body relaxation, making it the perfect compound to help you relax and unwind after a long day. PHC combined with other cannabinoids, however, can elevate your psychoactive and physical experience to a whole new level!
