How And Why Does Diamond CBD Ensure Its Products Are THC Free?
There are two questions we get asked a lot around here.
Why don’t Diamond CBD products have THC?
How are we sure our products don’t have THC?
Both are great questions. After all, to many people, THC is what makes marijuana, well, marijuana. Without it, you couldn't get stoned, and cannabis would be a whole lot less controversial. Of course, there's a lot more to cannabis than that. So, let’s start at the beginning…CBD is a cannabinoid. It is extracted from cannabis. Like any other plant species, cannabis come in a variety of shapes and sizes and colors and flavors. For instance, you can buy beefsteaks tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, or plum tomatoes. Some are sweet, some are tiny, some are yellow, and so on. But they are all tomatoes. It’s the same way with cannabis strains.

It’s the same way with cannabis strains.
Cannabis comes in a variety of strains. Some are high in THC and low in CBD, some are low in CBD and high in THC, and some have a balance of THC and CBD. Some are great for making hemp rope, some are great for making lots of seeds, and some are great for harvesting cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. And just like any other plant, many different cannabis strains are bred to enhance their special qualities.
The flower of each cannabis plant can only produce a limited percentage of cannabinoids (maximum is around 28% by weight). Simply, the more of one cannabinoid you breed in, the more of the others you breed out.
One particular group of cannabis strains is called hemp. Hemp is also known as industrial hemp, or agricultural hemp because, and unlike the strains referred to as marijuana, hemp is used for building materials, textiles, and food.
And there just happen to be strains of hemp that are high in CBD and have negligible amounts of THC. In fact, in most countries around the globe, agricultural hemp must have less than .3% THC by law. And that rule is taken very seriously because breaking it could land a farmer in prison. That's why those strains are great for extracting CBD.
Which brings us to the next point. Why not make CBD from marijuana? Well, there are few reasons...
First, marijuana is far more expensive to grow than hemp, and it produces far less CBD per acre than hemp does. It makes no sense to use a crop that produces less CBD at a higher cost. And the CBD in hemp is the exact same molecule as the CBD in marijuana. There is no difference whatsoever.
Second, because marijuana has more than .3% THC—a lot more in most cases—it’s illegal in many places, and growing it can land a farmer in prison, as mentioned above. The legal complications can be immense. It is possible to buy cannabis oils with both THC and CBD in states where marijuana is legal, but in many cases, you need a medical recommendation to get it.
Also, if you don’t want the high that comes with THC, you have to be absolutely sure the CBD you get is THC-free. Often you can’t be sure, no matter what it says on the label, especially if it came from a strain of marijuana high in THC. Diamond CBD is certified THC-free by third-party testing labs, so you know you’re not going to get stoned from our CBD products or have THC show up in a drug test.
And finally, Diamond CBD doesn't make its CBD from marijuana with high TCH, because even though marijuana is fully legal in some states, it is still illegal or at least restricted to medical uses in most others. If our products contained THC, we would not be able to sell them in every state in the US.
In order to produce top quality CBD, keep the price down, and make it available to everyone, our products are made with pure CBD derived from 100% natural agricultural hemp.
Just like tomatoes and cannabis, Diamond CBD comes in all shapes and sizes and flavors. We’ve got oil drops, vape oils and pens, edibles, drinkables, skin creams, and even cake pops. Heck, we’ve even got CBD for pets. So take advantage of our economical—and legal—products, live long and live free.
