5 Myths About Hemp-Derived Delta-8 THC Debunked (Finally!)

Delta-8 THC is one of the most exciting, interesting, and buzz-worthy cannabinoids to hit the market in the past few years — if not decades — leading to a new craze for all-natural, hemp-derived products and turning the hemp market on its head. But with this uptick in popularity for all things Delta-=8 comes a bit of a minor drawback. While everyone is enjoying all of the fantastic and completely legal products now available, the swell in popularity has led to an increase in falsehoods and rumors. Myths abound regarding our favorite new cannabinoid, Delta-8 THC, and we’re here today to debunk them all (or many of them, anyway).

Yes, in honor of National Leave the Office Early Day, a wonderful holiday dedicated to kicking over your desk and telling your boss you’re done for the day no matter how much work there’s left to be done (seriously, look it up for yourselves), we here at Diamond CBD are going to help you navigate the wonderful world of Delta-8 THC. Because as someone much more famous than us once said, the truth is out there.

Did your cousin tell you that Delta-8 THC is illegal? Have you heard from the guy or gal up the street that this crazy new cannabinoid called Delta-8 THC is actually just cannabis? Is your mother’s friend’s uncle’s neighbor’s vacuum cleaner repair person telling you that the buzz from Delta-8 THC can cause anxiety? Well, then you need some myth-busting — and, quite frankly, a better chain of information altogether (it’s 2021, start Googling!).

We understand that it can be difficult to know what’s true and what’s not in this rough and tumble world. With “fake news” infecting the airwaves and partisan bubbles making it more and more difficult to find unbiased information — not to mention the difficulties of finding anything quickly via social media — you may not know on whom you can rely. You want some Delta-8 THC, but where do you begin?

That’s why we’re here to help. At Diamond CBD, we live and breathe Delta-8. If you don’t mind us saying, this is what we do every day, so we like to think of ourselves as experts. You won’t find any fake news here, nor will you find any lies—just the straight-up truth. So, if you want to know about the legality of Delta-8 THC, how it’s made, its effects, and more, you’ve come to the right place.

Shut down your computer and tell the boss you are calling it quits. If she asks why tell her you’ve gone to learn more about some Delta-8 THC — after all, it’s National Leave the Office Early Day. Here are five myths about hemp-derived Delta-8 THC debunked, finally.

Making the Case For Delta-8 THC

Over the past year, millions of Americans have had their lives upended. The world has become a new place over the past 12 months, and all of us are continuing to adjust to the landscape. In just one example, many, if not most of us, don’t need to call it quits on National Leave the Office Early Day, as we’re already working from home. And studies show that as we slowly work our way back to normal, working from home is here to stay.

Delta-8 THC has also become a part of our new normal over the past year. For decades we lived in a world where the products we imbibed had to have a purpose — and that purpose couldn’t be fun. Enjoyable products like cannabis were deemed illegal by the powers that be, and many people suffered. To this day, they still do.

But then, in 2018, Congress passed the Farm Bill, which legalized hemp and all hemp derivatives, including CBD and, of course, Delta-8 THC. And with the latter, fun was legalized for the first time in human history. For once, we didn’t have to make a case that we needed a product for this reason or that. We could simply say, “we want Delta-8 THC because we enjoy it.”

And that is wonderful.

“In some ways, Delta-8 sounds too good to be true,” wrote Rolling Stone earlier this year. “But it isn’t [emphasis ours]. For people who want to feel the psychoactive effects of Delta-9, yet find it gives them paranoia or anxiety, Delta-8 is a quasi-legal option available online. And unlike Delta-9, Delta-8 is significantly cheaper, making it a viable option for some people looking for a short uplifting feeling without being intoxicated.”

In other words, Delta-8 THC is the best of all worlds. It’s a legal cannabinoid with a buzz that everyone can enjoy for what it is. And really, what’s better than that?

5 Myths About Hemp-Derived Delta-8 THC Debunked (Finally!)
A man named Roger Adams, along with his colleagues at the University of Illinois, first synthesized Delta-8 THC way back in 1941. And while your grandparents probably weren’t vaping Delta-8, we’ve known about it for a long time.

MYTH: Delta-8 THC Is a Brand-New Cannabinoid Created To Skirt the Law

Many people believe that Delta-8 THC is a brand-new cannabinoid, better still designed by manufacturers to “skirt the law.” One version of this myth that’s quite popular around the interwebs and social media is that Delta-8 THC is just a cheap form of cannabis in new packaging. Friends, neighbors and that guy who sleeps on your couch and loves conspiracy theories will tell you that growers and cultivators are using it as a cheap way to sell low-quality product.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

First, and we can’t stress this enough, please get that guy off of your couch. He’s been mooching off your goodwill for way too long. Second, many people believe this or a variation of this myth because Delta-8 THC products are new to the market. But the truth is, Delta-8 THC is as old as time itself. Okay, maybe not that old, but it is a few decades short of a century old.

A man named Roger Adams, along with his colleagues at the University of Illinois, first synthesized Delta-8 THC way back in 1941. And while your grandparents probably weren’t vaping Delta-8, we’ve known about it for a long time. The reason it hasn’t taken off until now is two-fold. First, the chemistry behind Delta-8 is quite extensive. Although it occurs naturally in hemp and cannabis, it’s usually difficult to produce in mass quantities, a problem we haven’t been able to solve until very recently. Second, there was a legality issue, something we’ll look at shortly.

In the meantime, in honor of luminaries like Roger Adams, why not take advantage of our June sale, with 45% off Delta-8 THC gummies and vapes? We think Roger would have loved some Chill Plus CBD & Delta-8 Extreme Fruity Mix Gummies in 1250X, Chill Plus CBD & Delta-8 Extreme Tropical Mix Gummies in 1250X, or a Chill Plus CBG + Delta-8 Hemp Flower Pre-Roll.

MYTH: Delta-8 THC Is Illegal or Semi-Legal

This one you probably read online scrolling through your Aunt’s Facebook feed or in a trending Twitter story somewhere. Some ace junior reporter for AwesomeCannabisNews.ru wrote a scathing report on the ills of illicit substances, with Delta-8 THC topping the list. Worse still, the story then gets picked up by Yahoo! News, Newsweek, HuffPost, and finally the New York Times in a bad game of telephone until it becomes burned into the zeitgeist.

Here’s the skinny: Delta-8 THC extracted from hemp is federally legal in the United States (of America).

Okay, we know, that sentence sounds like it has a ton of qualifiers. So let’s break it down before you start tossing your Liquid Gold Vape Cartridges down the toilet and heading for the border. As we mentioned earlier, Delta-8 THC is a hemp-derived product, as it occurs naturally in hemp. But it also occurs naturally in cannabis. That being said:

  • Delta-8 THC derived from hemp is legal at the federal level
  • Delta-8 THC derived from cannabis is legal in states where cannabis is legal
  • Delta-8 THC derived from cannabis is illegal in states where cannabis is outlawed

Make sense? Well, we’re not done yet. Sadly, a few states have taken the step to outlaw hemp-derived Delta-8 THC because they don’t like fun. We know it’s now great, but the best thing you can do right now is lobbying your legislators. You can also find a list of those states in our FAQs.

The crazy part of all this? Delta-8 is Delta-8. It’s the exact same compound whether it comes from hemp or cannabis. Go figure.

MYTH: Delta-8 Is Just CBD; It Won’t Make Me High

This is the myth you hear from your true stoner buds. Cannabis aficionados who only buy certain, expensive strains and use thousand-dollar pipes while listening to Bob Marley all day. They something along the lines of “Delta-8 THC doesn’t get you high; it’s just CBD. You can take it, drive a car, operate heavy machinery, perform open heart surgery, and more. You’ll be fine!”

Listen, we love our cannabis toking friends, especially those who are very selective about what they choose to imbibe. But just because Delta-8 THC isn’t Delta-9 doesn’t mean it won’t give you a buzz. On the contrary, Delta-8 THC will give you a psychotropic high, and in many cases, it can be quite potent. Do not drive a car or operate heavy machinery while using Delta-8 THC. For any surgeons out there, we’re confident that you already know not to use anything before heading to the OR.

The buzz from Delta-8 is different than the buzz from Delta-9. In fact, users report that it is much more smooth and subtle and takes a little longer to come up. It also leaves you with a much more clear head, allowing you, in some circumstances, to continue with your daily activities. But this doesn’t mean you should grab some 10X Delta-8 Vape Cartridges before you head into the office. It means that when you leave the office early today, you can feel free to enjoy a 10X Delta-8 THC - Blue Dream Vape Cartridge.

MYTH: Delta-8 THC Is Only Good For a Buzz

For those of you who frequent the various corners of the internet where rumors and conspiracy theories love to ferment and ripen, you’ve probably heard this one a million and a half times. It usually spreads through Reddit and 4chan and 8chan and all those other message boards. And let us say we love all of our friends at Reddit, but we just want to help them clear up a few misconceptions about Delta-8 THC.

Contrary to popular belief among the subreddits, Delta-8 THC is about way more than the buzz — and this is coming from folks that love the buzz. Believe it or not, Delta-8 THC has been reported by users to have many beneficial properties.

Now, before we continue, we should note that the Food and Drug Administration does prevent us from making any outright claims as to the medical efficacy of Delta-8, and for good cause. There have been few studies or clinical trials showing the effectiveness of Delta-8 THC. In fact, most researchers are still learning about this cannabinoid. So, for now, all we have are user reports. But what those users report is intriguing.

“Delta-8 consumers report many of the same effects as THC,” writes Leafly, “such as mild euphoria, happiness, uplifting feelings, and relief from some symptoms such as pain, although the compound is much less potent. Delta-8 can also help with insomnia.”

While we can’t confirm any of this, we’ll let you see for yourself. Try some delicious Delta-8 Bites Gummies and get your day off to a good start. We like Orange Creamsicle, Fruit Punch, and Pina Colada ourselves.

5 Myths About Hemp-Derived Delta-8 THC Debunked (Finally!)
Delta-8 THC is an entirely safe hemp-derived product. Sure, some of the conversion process is done in a lab — under strict lab safety procedures — but it’s still an all-natural, hemp-derived product.

MYTH: Delta-8 THC Is Lab-Made and Unsafe

Honestly, we don’t know where this one started. Maybe it was an internet rumor, or perhaps it started with your friends down the street. Maybe some do-gooders in the government who like to stick their noses in everything started to spread this rumor for who knows what reason. Whoever and however this rumor started, we can guarantee you it is one hundred percent untrue.

Delta-8 THC is an entirely safe hemp-derived product. Sure, some of the conversion process is done in a lab — under strict lab safety procedures — but it’s still an all-natural, hemp-derived product. And most importantly, it’s safe. No one on record has been hurt, injured, or fallen ill from Delta-8 THC. And here at Diamond CBD, we don’t mix any unsafe chemicals such as Vitamin E Acetate with our vape products, so you have nothing to worry about.

And to prove it, all of our products undergo strict third-party testing to guarantee safety and security. Furthermore, we put all of our lab tests and certificates online for you to examine. It’s our way of being transparent and creating an atmosphere of openness in the industry. Our goal is to set the industry standard for safety with all of our hemp products, both CBD and Delta-8 THC.

Whether you choose Delta-8 Gummies, Delta-8 Vapes, Delta-8 Smokeables, or anything else, you can rest assured that you are purchasing the best.

One Fact About All-Natural, Hemp-Derived Delta-8 THC

“According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), there are currently at least 144 known cannabinoids that have been isolated from the cannabis plant,” wrote Rolling Stone earlier this year. “The most popular among them is Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive compound known to provide all the stereotypical effects of getting high. Yet a lesser-known cannabinoid, with more than half of the psychoactive potency of Delta-9-THC, seems poised to challenge its dominance.”

That cannabinoid is Delta-8 THC.

Why is Delta-8 THC so popular among users? For so many reasons. Chief among them is the fact that Delta-8 gives users the freedom to chart their own path. No longer do people have to succumb to the whims of the government to enjoy themselves with cannabinoids. But now we have other barriers, namely the myths that follow. So here at Diamond CBD, we promise to bring you the best Delta-8 possible, along with the facts.
