Delta 9 Products – An Old School Buzz

Delta 9 products are the newest and most exciting addition to the Diamond CBD cannabinoid family! We know, we know, you know us for being your trustworthy source for all hemp-derived compounds, but now, the most famous cannabinoid you love has come to stay.

You’re already familiar with all of its cousins, including delta 10delta 8HHC, but delta 9 is the classic compound that popularized getting dazed, blazed, and amazed.

A Deep Dive on Delta 9

Delta 9 also known as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is a type of psychoactive cannabinoid that is present in cannabis plants. Essentially, delta 9 THC is responsible for the euphoric effects commonly associated with using marijuana. It is the specific chemical compound that typically comes to mind when considering the properties of cannabis.

Delta 9 THC possesses several characteristics, such as:

  • Inducing sleep in those with insomnia
  • Boosting appetite
  • Helping to manage anxiety
  • Assisting with pain relief
  • Producing a moderate to intense high

With that in mind, delta 9 products have been found to relieve stress in the adequate dose, but it excessive consumption of delta 9 THC can lead to unpleasant effects, such as anxious thoughts, nausea, mental fog, and even paranoia.

To avoid such adverse outcomes, it is best to start with a low dose and gradually increase it until you reach your desired high. However, finding the right dosage is not a straightforward process as it depends on various factors, including weight, tolerance, and delivery method.

Although dosing remains an elusive aspect, researchers suggest that it can be roughly divided into three main tolerance tiers.

  • For novices with low tolerance, a dose of 5mg is recommended.
  • Casual users with moderate tolerance should aim for around 15mg.
  • Frequent users with high tolerance may take doses higher than 15mg.

Because dosage depends on several factors, including tolerance, weight, and delivery method, there’s no foolproof way to dose. It may be a bit of a trial-and-error process, but once you reach that sweet spot, all your hard work will have been worth it!

There’s no shame in starting mild and building your way up to a comfortable high. Remember, you can always smoke more weed, but once you smoke too much, you’re toast!

A Brief History of THC

Marijuana has been used by rad people for thousands of years; first in Asia, then Africa, later Europe, and lastly in the Americas. While most ancient cultures grew the plant for medicinal purposes, the history of cannabis cultivation in the Americas dates back centuries! In fact, hemp was grown to produce textiles in the United States during the 1600s.

Fast forward to the early 1900s: the Mexican Revolution is roaring in all its explosive force, and immigrants from Mexico seek to run from the violence and settle in the United States. These immigrants quickly introduce recreational marijuana to American culture.

Soon, political and racial factors such as the Great Depression and public resentment of Mexican immigrants induce fears and paranoia about the evils of weed, resulting in 29 states outlawing cannabis by 1931.

Six years later, the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 criminalized marijuana nationwide. The Act imposed a tax on the sale, possession, and transfer of all hemp products, criminalizing all but industrial uses of cannabis.

A few decades after that, as part of the “War on Drugs,” President Richard Nixon signed the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. This repealed the Marijuana Tax Act and listed marijuana as a Scheduled I drug, grouping it in with drugs like heroin, LSD, and ecstasy.

Marijuana was also identified in anti-drug programs like D.A.R.E and smeared as a “gateway drug”—90s kids will remember Daren the Lion wearing his black t-shirt and warning kids about the dangers of smoking pot.

In 1996, California became the first state to legalize marijuana for medicinal use, followed by Washington D.C., 37 other states, and US territories like Guam and Puerto Rico. As of 2022, recreational marijuana is legal in 19 states, Washington D.C., and Guam.

Are These Real Delta 9 Products?

Yes, but it’s derived from hemp, not marijuana.

The 2018 Farm Bill saw Congress legalize hemp and all of its derivatives. The bill defines hemp as any cannabis sativa plant containing less than 0.3% THC. While CBD is the main cannabinoid associated with hemp, the Farm Bill gave manufacturers a loophole.

Cannabinoids like delta 8, delta 10, and HHC can all be derived from CBD in a lab. Starting with CBD, scientists can manipulate the environmental factors and induce the chemical changes that convert CBD into other substances and create other cannabinoids.

This is the case with hemp-derived delta 9 THC. So long as it complies with the 0.3% limit, we’re good to go! So, even though our delta 9 products are derived from hemp and not marijuana, the two are virtually identical—with the exception of where they come from.

Do Hemp-Derived Delta 9 Products Comply with Legal Regulations?

Yes!

Congress passed the Farm Bill in 2018, which authorized the federal legalization of hemp and its derivatives, making it a significant achievement for the United States. Consequently, any derivative derived from hemp is now lawful throughout the country, including delta 9, which is hemp-derived.

Although cannabinoids are federally legal, state laws vary, and hemp remains prohibited in 11 states, including Alaska, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Rhode Island, and Utah. Nonetheless, hemp is legal in 39 states.

Is it Safe to Consume Hemp-Derived Delta 9 Products?

Certainly! If you obtain your delta 9 products from a reputable source, they are entirely safe to consume.

Given that the FDA does not place any regulations on cannabinoids derived from hemp, individual manufacturers are responsible for determining the safety standards of their products. Therefore, it's crucial to research your cannabinoid source to guarantee a secure and satisfying experience.

At Diamond CBD, we subject all of our products to third-party lab testing for quality, purity, and most importantly, safety. Additionally, we make these laboratory results freely available on our website to ensure your confidence and our accountability.

If you choose Diamond CBD as your delta 9 source, your safety is entirely assured!

Delta 8 vs. Delta 9 Products

You may have heard that delta 8 and delta 9 share some similarities. These two compounds also diverge in many ways. So, what makes them so similar (and so different)?

Well, in short, delta 8 is a milder analog of delta 9.

Some researchers believe delta 9 to be twice as strong as delta 8, meaning that although the list of side effects between the two cannabinoids is strikingly similar, these effects are a lot more potent when they come from delta 9.

Although this may sound like good news for all you seasoned stoners looking for a little bit of a kick, this also means that unwanted side effects like anxiety and paranoia are more likely when ingesting delta 9 products.

All in all, delta 8 makes for a much more manageable psychoactive experience. While delta 8 works gradually towards relaxing you, delta 9’s effects are faster to kick in.

Delta 8 can produce the following effects:

  • Reduction in pain
  • Feeling relaxed
  • Increase in appetite
  • Mild to moderate psychoactive experience
