Sleep better and have more energy with CBD
Having some trouble sleeping? Is the lack of sleep causing you to be dragging during daytime hours? Well, we have good news for you. CBD could provide one solution to both problems.
Recently, a scientific study was done in regards to energy drinks. Results suggested that CBD promotes wakefulness during the day. However, there are other studies which suggest that CBD can alternatively help people sleep at night.
How is that possible, you ask? How can one treatment seemingly help you sleep, and give you energy and alertness? The short answer is that CBD acts in such a way that it helps regulate bodily functions at a cellular level. The studies suggest that CBD has a modulating effect on sleep patterns, an energy-boosting effect on cells, and a focus boosting effect when awake.
CBD for sleep disorders
There’s a lot of sheep counting going on in America. According to a 2015 market report published by Persistence Market Research “Global Market Study on Sleep Aids: Sleep Apnea to Witness Highest Growth by 2020,” the sleep aids market is witnessing substantial growth due to rising incidences of sleep disorders attributed to our aging population and the stresses of the modern lifestyle.
Pharmaceutical sleep aids are not without their dangers and side effects. Sleeping pills can be addictive, cause dizziness, light headedness, headaches, intestinal problems, prolonged drowsiness, memory and performance problems, allergic reactions, and can result in overdoses leading to death. People are turning to CBD as a 100% natural solution. And not for nothing.
A report published out of National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism comes right out and says in the title of the report that, “Endocannabinoid Signaling Regulates Sleep Stability.” The study looked at the hypnogenic (sleep-inducing) properties of cannabis (which, of course, has been recognized for centuries).
The study gathered findings from a series of sleep experiments with mice. Amazingly, the report finds that the magnitude of the sleep-inducing effects produced by cannabinoids are dependent on the time of day they are administered.
Taken at night, they help you sleep. Taken during the day, they promote alertness.
CBD for energy and focus
Meanwhile, the US energy drink market grew by 56% between 2009 and 2014. In fact, global energy drink sales reached nearly $50 billion in 2014, according to BeverageDaily.com, an online news service covering the food and beverage industry. Annual sales of energy drink Red Bull, alone, are currently more than $5 billion. That’s a whole lot of wings.
Most energy boost products contain caffeine, the same substance in coffee that gets folk going in the morning. Caffeinated drinks can cause insomnia, indigestion, headaches, ulcers, anxiety, depression and wrinkles. Caffeine also raises blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke, the leading causes of death in the US. And that’s not to mention the loads of sugar that are in most energy drinks - as much as 40 grams per serving! All that sugar can lead to diabetes, obesity, inflammation throughout the body which can result in skin problems, digestive problems, and on and on - not to mention being the #1 cause of cavities. But once again, folks are turning to CBD as an all-natural solution. And for good reason.
According to a report out of the Autonomous University of Campeche, Mexico entitled, “The nonpsychoactive Cannabis constituent cannabidiol is a wake-inducing agent,” when administered 10 or 20 microg/1 microl to wake-inducing brain areas, CBD enhanced wakefulness and decreased slow wave sleep and REM sleep. Furthermore, CBD increased alpha and theta power spectra but diminished delta power spectra. In simple terms, the findings suggest that CBD is a wakefulness-inducing compound.
The evidence continues to pile up. Again and again, scientific studies are suggesting that CBD is an amazingly versatile, all natural, non-toxic, side-effect-free super supplement.
