Over the past decade or so, hemp has been extremely kind to all of us. If you think back to the before times — before CBD, before Delta-8, before, well, everything — there wasn’t much for any of us to choose. Sure, you could call a friend or a friend of a friend who knew a guy, and maybe you could find some decent herb here or there. But it was always a hassle. Today, however, we have hemp, and how sweet it is.

Since the beginning of the last decade, all of us have basked in the glory of this wonderful plant, first through the magnificence that is cannabidiol, or CBD. Then, just last year, hemp graced us all again when Delta-8 THC arrived on the scene. And after the year we all had, Delta-8 THC couldn’t come soon enough. Let’s just say that Delta-8 THC was a revelation. For the first time in modern history, we had access to a hemp-derived compound that offered us something unique. With Delta-8 THC, we could all enjoy a euphoric buzz, and we could do so legally.

Well, here at Diamond CBD, we’re about to let you know that the fun isn’t over yet — far from it, in fact. The hemp plant that has given us so much joy and relief and relaxation since those heady days from before the Farm Bill has done it once again. And this time, you’re in for a real treat.

The new cannabinoid in town is called Delta-10, or Delta-10 THC.

We’ve gone over the ins and outs of Delta-10 in recent blog posts. As you might recall, Delta-10 THC, like its hemp-derived brothers and sisters, is one of the many cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. THC and CBD are your major cannabinoids, but hundreds of minor cannabinoids have yet to be fully explored … until now.

Delta-10 THC is a sativa-like compound that offers users an energizing, amped-up experience that revs your creative juices. It’s definitely not made for bedtime. And with all-new cannabinoids comes a slew of questions, which we hope to answer over time. But today, we’re going to focus on one of the most significant. Because Delta-10 is hitting the market on the coattails of Delta-8, it’s led to a bit of confusion among users. And it’s led to one major question.

How does Delta-8 compare to Delta-10?

Do both cannabinoids give users a psychotropic high? Are both compounds legal? Can I combine both cannabinoids? Where can I purchase Delta-8 and Delta-10? There’s a lot to go through and a lot you need to understand. So we’re here to hold your hand through it all. After all, we consider ourselves Delta-10 experts now, thanks to the innovation of Hyper Delta-10 gummies and vapes, some of the most unique Delta-10 THC products on the market today. And you can only purchase them here at Diamond CBD. But we’ll discuss that in detail later.

For now, let the matchup of Delta-9 vs. Delta-10 begin. How do these cannabinoids compare?

First Things First: What Is Delta-8?

Think you know everything there is to know about Delta-8 THC? It’s time to test your knowledge on one of the most popular, groundbreaking cannabinoids to hit the market since cannabidiol first made waves almost a decade ago. Sure, everyone knows that Delta-8 THC is a hemp-derived compound that gives users a psychotropic buzz, but there’s much more to it than that. So, what is Delta-8?

Like Delta-9, which most people commonly refer to as “cannabis,” Delta-8 is also a form of THC. In fact, Delta-8 and Delta-9 share a similar chemical structure. However, unlike its more famous cousin, Delta-8 THC is much less potent, which gives it a few benefits over the classic formula.

For starters, Delta-8 has a smoother, more subtle high, leaving users with a clear head. And unlike Delta-9 THC, Delta-8 doesn’t cause excess paranoia or anxiety, which is all too common with the former, especially if it isn’t used in moderation. Because of this, Delta-8 can be dosed or microdosed during the day, leaving users to complete many of their normal tasks at hand. Now, of course, this doesn’t mean you should drive a car or operate heavy machinery while taking Delta-8, but unlike Delta-9, you won’t feel the urge to sink into the couch and watch Netflix all day — not that there’s anything wrong with that.

The biggest difference between Delta-9 and Delta-8 is that the latter can be extracted from hemp, which is now legal in the United States, as per the Farm Bill of 2018. Legality changed the game for Delta-8 THC over the past couple of years, allowing online retailers to ramp up production while safely selling Delta-8 across the country. People everywhere now have the freedom to enjoy the new and novel cannabinoid as they see fit, without any interference from the government.

Of course, a few states have begun to ban Delta-8, as these things usually go. But for now, most Americans have the freedom to enjoy it.

Okay, Then, So What Is Delta-10?

Believe it or not, Delta-10 THC is actually what many like to refer to as a very happy accident. The compound is an isomer of Delta-9 THC, just like Delta-8, but it was only discovered in the past few years. When we say it is a new and novel cannabinoid, we’re placing a heavy emphasis on the new.

So how did this happen? Well, a cannabis company out in California called Fusion Farms was experimenting with different concentrates when one day, their stash, as it were, was caught up in a forest fire. The fire retardants used to put out the fire ended up contaminating the hemp. But instead of tossing everything, scientists at the company realized strange new crystals were forming on their product.

At first, they thought it was something like CBC, but soon after some testing, they realized they had discovered Delta-8 THC. Nowadays, we don’t use fire retardants to form Delta-8; instead, we use much cleaner processes. But back then, no one even thought about this compound. It was all a happy accident.

But How Does Delta-8 Compare To Delta-10?

There’s a lot to unpack with this question, and we’re going to cover all of it. But first things first, because in many ways, Delta-8 and Delta-10 are pretty similar. In fact, much like CBD and any other cannabinoid with which you might be familiar, both Delta-8 and Delta-10 interact with the endocannabinoid system or ECS. You’ll recall that the ECS is the system in your body that helps to maintain balance or homeostasis.

And both cannabinoids do bind to your CB1 and CB2 receptors, though less so to the latter. At this point, researchers are still unsure just how they bind to the CB2 receptors. However, they continue to search for answers.

One thing we do know is that when combined, Delta-8 and Delta-10 make for one fantastic psychotropic buzz that’s out of this world. It offers users a complete experience that’s felt in both the head and the body, giving you the ability to reach for the stars. That’s why products like Diamond CBD’s Hyper Delta-10 also includes a hint of Delta-8 THC — whether you prefer Hyper Delta-10 vapes in Blue Dream or Zkittle, or Hyper Delta-10 gummies in Tropical or Fruity — you’re in for a brand new experience.

However, there are many differences between these two compounds, including their individual high, their chemical structures, and much more. So let’s take a closer look.

Build and Buzz: Chemical and Psychotropic Properties of Delta-8 and Delta-10

Of course, the first thing everyone wants to know about is the buzz. What’s the psychotropic high like from Delta-8 THC, and how does it compare to that of Delta-10? Well, to understand that, first, we need to take a look at the chemical structure of both cannabinoids and understand the differences. Because while both of these compounds are quite similar in their chemical makeup, they’re still very different.

Delta-8 and Delta-10 THC both have a chemical makeup that’s similar to, you guessed it, Delta-9 THC. As with most cannabinoids, the biggest, most significant difference is in the placement of the C=C double bond.

Each cannabinoid has the double bond; however, the placement is what really matters here. Because of the varying placements in the double bond between Delta’s 8, 9, and 10, each cannabinoid interacts differently with our receptors.

So, for example, with Delta-8 THC, chances are you’ll feel a smooth and subtle high that’s relaxing and uplifting. The high will have you feeling a bit hungry and maybe even a little sleepy. On the other hand, Delta-10 is known for its sativa-like high. It’s energizing, keeps you focused, and helps your creative juices flow.

But the real magic happens when you combine the two together…

Delta-8 vs. Delta-10: Benefits and Side Effects

Now that we’ve got the buzz out of the way let’s discuss the other wonderful reasons that people might want to partake in these amazon cannabinoids. Because, believe it or not, it’s not always about the buzz —not that there’s anything wrong with enjoying some euphoria. However, it should be noted that both Delta-8 and Delta-10 are relatively new cannabinoids, and that means that research on both is in its early stages. While we know that each compound is safe — no one has ever been harmed by hemp — we’re still learning the details on these two.

We should also note that, as per Food and Drug Administration guidelines, we can’t promote any benefits of either of these two compounds. But there are a few things that users have relayed to us and across the internet that we can discuss. For example, when it comes to Delta-8 THC, many users claim that it makes them feel more relaxed, less stressed, calm, and altogether euphoric. Compare that with Delta-10 THC, which gives users a bit more focus, more energy and allows them the ability to complete tasks.

There are some side effects to both cannabinoids, but usually only when taken in excess. As with all things, you should only take Delta-8 and Delta-10 in moderation. Should you take too much, nothing too bad should happen, but it’s always best to see a doctor if you’re concerned about something.

In some cases, users have noted dry mouth, drowsiness, and slight anxiety. But most users just mention how much fun they’re having.

Are Delta-8 and Delta-10 Legal? What About Drug Tests?

Ah, the legality question. It’s always a staple of our how-to guides on cannabinoids. After all, nobody wants to run afoul of the law. That’s definitely something we can all agree on. But what is the truth of the matter? Are Delta-8 and Delta-10 legal? Like really legal?

These days, Delta-8 and Delta-10 are all produced from hemp or hemp by-products, making them completely legal, at least at the federal level. That’s because, in 2018, Congress passed what’s known as the farm bill, which legalized hemp and all of its derivatives. It was a big deal back then for the CBD industry.

Of course, when Delta-8 hit the scene m with its buzz, politicians got a bit antsy. Now, a few states have begun to ban Delta-8 THC. States such as Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, and others have now made it illegal to sell Delta-8.

And when it comes to drug tests, chances are both will show up on any standard test. That’s because today’s drug tests look for metabolites of THC. Since Delta-8 and Delta-10 are so similar to cannabis, they’ll most likely make you pop positive. Your best bet is to abstain for a couple of weeks before the test and keep a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, and lots of water.
