Everyone loves CBD or cannabidiol, if you want to be more specific. It’s not even something that’s on the fringes of society anymore. Most everyone you know has either tried CBD or, better still, incorporates the hemp-derived compound into their daily routines. Over the past decade, CBD has become a part of our lives. It’s as common as waking up, brushing your teeth, and eating a bowl of cereal.

And it should be. After all, CBD is an all-natural cannabinoid that does so many wonderful things.

But these days, the hemp-derived cannabinoid world is expanding. Just last year, we were all introduced to Delta-8 THC. You know it. Delta-8 is the only all-natural cannabinoid with a buzz that’s completely legal. You can buy it, sell it, and most importantly, you can enjoy it on your own terms.

And again, it should be. The world is changing, and people are beginning to open their minds. We’re starting to realize the wrongs that were done in the name of prohibition. Progress is slow, but it is happening. As someone great once said, the arc of justice bends toward good — or something like that.

Over the past couple of months, you’ve probably heard rumblings about Delta-10 or Delta-10 THC. But now, the hemp-derived cannabinoid world is welcoming a new member to the family. For those of you not familiar, Delta-10 is, much like Delta-8, a hemp-derived cannabinoid with a subtle buzz. But unlike its cousin, it’s not made for relaxing. Delta-10 THC is an energizing compound that gets you moving, focused, and feeling like nothing can stop you. For those of you interested in finding out what it’s all about, you can try our new line of Hyper Delta-10 vapes and gummies.

The team here at Diamond CBD recently made a little comparison between Delta-8 and Delta-10 to help those of you at home learn the ins and outs between these two newer compounds. But we’ve also been getting a few questions in the old inbox about the differences between CBD and Delta-10.

Are they both hemp-derived? Will they cause me to fail a drug test? Can I combine the two? Well, fear not, Diamond faithful because our team has done the research. We’ve dug deep and hit the books — and Google — to learn everything about your old favorite, CBD, and soon-to-be new favorite, Delta-10 THC.

Because really, between Delta-10 and CBD, are these cannabinoids that different?

What Is CBD?

We’ve written about this more times than we can count, but just for those of you in the back who fell asleep, let’s review. What is CBD? Well, it’s a hemp-derived compound, one of many — hundreds — that is the basis for various products on the markets today, including edibles, vapes, oils, and more. CBD is the cause of the hemp market’s rise and the reason you know anything about hemp or have heard anything about this plant over the past decade.

Most people use CBD as a wellness and lifestyle product. CBD has many benefits, although it cannot diagnose, cure, or prevent any medical conditions. But it is an absolute value-add to any daily regimen or wellness routine, which is why the market has grown to such heights over the past few years.

As we’ve noted in other blog posts and writings, there are three basic types of hemp-derived CBD from which moist customers can choose. They include:

  • CBD Isolate - Pure, unadulterated CBD without any other compounds or cannabinoids found in the hemp plant.
  • Full-Spectrum CBD - CBD that consists of all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in the hemp plant, including up to 0.3% THC
  • Broad-Spectrum CBD - Similar to Full-Spectrum CBD, except it has no THC whatsoever.

To quote what we wrote in our piece about Delta-8 vs. Delta-10: “From these three types, consumers can choose a myriad of products, including CBD gummies, CBD oils, CBD vapes, and so much more. And the best part is, hemp-derived CBD is legal. In fact, it’s been so for a long time, thanks to federal legislation that was signed in 2018.”

CBD is a world-changing, life-changing product. We can’t say enough good things about it. And while I might be biased, we invite anyone to try it out for themselves and see what the fuss is all about.

What Is Delta-10

What is Delta-10 THC? It feels like such a big, loaded question with so many implications behind it. But the reality is, the answer is quite simple. As we here at Diamond CBD have noted many times before, Delta-10 is one of the hundreds of compounds found in the hemp plant. It’s not a major compound like CBD or THC, but it has a big impact.

As we’ve noted in other blog posts, Delta-10 is the cannabinoid that wasn’t meant to be. In other words, it was discovered completely by accident — but what an extremely happy accident it turned out to be!

There was a cannabis company called Fusion Farms doing some work in California. Long story short, there was a fire, some contaminated product, some strange new crystals, and a lot of confused people. The whole thing turned out to produce what we now know as Delta-10 THC.

The compound is an isomer of Delta-9 THC, just like Delta-8. But at first, researchers didn’t even realize what they had found. Lucky for us, they did, and the rest is history! Of course, today, no one uses fires or contaminants to make Delta-10. The processes are much cleaner now that we know what we have.

The Good Stuff: What’s the Difference Between Delta-10 and CBD?

This is the heart of the matter, the reason why you came here in the first place. What is the difference between Delta-10 THC and CBD? How do these two cannabinoids compare? Is one “better” than the other? Can I combine them? I have so many questions!

Well, we have the answers. The truth of the matter is, although CBD and Delta-10 THC are both hemp-derived compounds, that’s about where the similarities end. These two cannabinoids couldn’t be more different from each other. However, you’ll be happy to know that both compounds complement each other, something that is always a bonus.

Much like Delta-8, Delta-10 is a cannabinoid with a buzz, whereas CBD is a cannabinoid that’s much more subtle. But let’s take a look at how CBD and Delta-10 compare:

  • Delta-10 causes an energizing, focused psychotropic high
  • CBD offers users no psychotropic high
  • Delta-10 is a hemp-derived compound
  • CBD is also a hemp-derived compound
  • Delta-10 was made legal by the Farm Bill in 2018
  • CBD was also made legal by the Farm Bill
  • Both CBD and Delta-10 can enhance the entourage effect
  • Delta-10 is a minor cannabinoid
  • CBD is a major cannabinoid
  • Researchers know more about CBD than Delta-8
  • Researchers continue to learn more about both cannabinoids
  • Delta-10 may be banned in certain states
  • CBD is not prohibited at the state level
  • Both CBD and Delta-10 are available in many different forms, including edibles and vapes
  • However, CBD is usually available in more forms than Delta-10, such as creams, bath & body products, and more

The nice thing is that CBD and Delta-10 play off of each other. Combine the two, and you get a very subdued, chilled-out buzz that leaves you energized and focused without feeling too rough around the edges. Take some Hyper Delta-10 Blue Dream Vapes and add a little Diamond CBD brand vape oil, and you have the perfect afternoon ahead of you.

Delta-10 and CBD: What’s Under the Hood?

A lot of people ask us here at Diamond CBD about the science behind our hemp-derived products. What makes up Delta-10? CBD? How similar are these two all-natural, hemp-derived cannabinoids when we start to look under the hood?

Well, the first thing you should know is that both Delta-10 and CBD are isomers of each other. What does that mean exactly? Well, each compound has the exact same molecules, just arranged in a different order. You could say that CBD is just a scrambled-up version of Delta-10 or that Delta-10 is CBD when it feels all mixed up.

In fact, you can make Delta-10 just by re-scrambling (de-scrambling?) the isomers of CBD, although we don’t recommend that you try this at home. Also, like Delta-8, Delta-10 has a double C bond, which is integral for the psychotropic high that it causes.

It’s Delta-10’s double C bond that gives you the energizing, hyper-focused, creative feeling that comes from eating some Hyper edibles or vaping some Hyper Skittles. It’s a much different feeling than Delta-8, which would be a relaxing high. And it’s much different than CBD, which is relaxing without the high.

The Benefits and Side Effects of CBD and Delta-10

We all know that no one takes CBD for the high — because, with CBD, there is no high. Cannabidiol gives users a nice relaxed feeling or may even help to promote your natural ability to sleep, but it definitely won’t get you high. Delta-10, on the other hand, will absolutely give you a nice, if not subtle, buzz. The buzz will be energizing, will help you focus, and will send your creative juices soaring, but it’s definitely a high!

But there’s more than just a buzz to hemp. In fact, people all over the world take CBD and other cannabinoids for myriad reasons. And while we cannot promote or discuss any medical benefits here due to Food and Drug Administration guidelines, we can tell you that users tell us that they have experienced many.

People everywhere use CBD as a part of their wellness routine and daily regimens. It’s used to help folks who need assistance with their natural sleep patterns. CBD is often mixed with other products, like melatonin or turmeric to boost the body.

On the other hand, Delta-10 is used for very specific reasons, which we have discussed a few times already. Most people prefer this cannabinoid when they wish to find a spark of energy, creativity, or focus.

Side effects are rare to non-existent with both. CBD has hardly any recorded side effects, with drowsiness being perhaps the most common. But even that is very rare. Delta-10, if taken in excess, may cause some anxiety, which is why it should be enjoyed in moderation, like all of the best things on earth.

The Legality of Delta-10 and CBD

So you’ve decided you want to purchase some Delta-10 THC, but you’re not sure if you can. You already know that CBD is legal. After all, a few years back, Congress passed the Farm Bill, which legalized hemp and, by default, CBD. So that’s not an issue for anyone, anywhere in the good ol’ United States of America.

But now there’s Delta-10. It’s a hemp-derived compound, so it’s converted under the Farm Bill. That means that technically, Delta-10 is legal at the federal level. But — and there’s always a but — it also lives in a gray area. That’s because of the buzz.

Most politicians don’t like it when a cannabinoid is fun. So they try to ban it. Already, several states have taken the initiative to ban Delta-8 THC, and they’ve done the same with Delta-10. In fact, Delta-10 is illegal in 11 states right now, including Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island, and Utah.

So what does this mean for you? Well, for those of you living in the other states, you’re free and clear. For the rest of you, it’s time to lobby your legislators. Let them know that Delta-10 is safe and that you want it taken off the banned substances list.

And when it comes to drug tests, chances are Delta-10 will show up on any standard test. That’s because today’s drug tests look for metabolites of THC. Since Delta-10 is so similar to cannabis, it will most likely make you pop positive. Your best bet is to abstain for a couple of weeks before the test and keep a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, and lots of water.

CBD, on the other hand, should not show up on a drug test. It has no more than 0.3% THC. However, there is always a chance that you can have a false negative. So if you are going to have a drug test, it’s still best to be prepared.
