CBD Oil: The 9 Things You Absolutely Need To Know

CBD oil is all over the interwebs these days (with the best being right here at Diamond CBD, where you can find everything from our new Daily Boost CBD Shot to our Strawberry Flavor CBD Oil).

But not all of the information is useful. Some of it is just plain inaccurate. And some of it is just downright wrong. So we figured we’d help you skip sifting through reams of information on the web, give you one article that you can refer to, and let you spend your time enjoying more pleasant activities (like partaking in our Full Spectrum CBD Oil).

Here we go. Nine things you absolutely need to know about CBD oil:

CBD Oil Online Comes From Hemp Not Marijuana

You may already know this, but let’s settle it once and for all. The CBD oil that anyone can purchase online (and by online we mean here at DiamondCBD.com) is made from hemp, not marijuana.

Hemp refers to strains of Cannabis sativa which are essentially THC-free and have no recreational value. The value of hemp is in the health benefits of the CBD-rich resinous hemp flowers from which CBD oil is extracted.

CBD Oil Is 100% THC-Free and Won’t Get You High

We can’t speak for everyone else who sells CBD oil, but all of the CBD oil that Diamond CBD offers is 100% free of THC, the compound in marijuana that causes a high. It’s an all-natural, completely safe-to-use product.

CBD Oil Is 100% Non-toxic

CBD is a non-toxic compound. You can eat a brick of CBD and not see any long-term effects. You might feel a little full. And you might sleep really well that day. But you can’t overdose on CBD oil (not that we recommend that you try —because we absolutely don’t. Besides, where are you going to find a brick of CBD anyway?).

CBD Oil Is Not Addictive

To say that CBD oil is not addictive is an understatement. The truth of the matter is that CBD helps to regulate processes in the brain which are responsible for addictive behaviors. It’s even used in drug and alcohol rehabs to help patients kick their habits. You might get addicted to how great you feel when using CBD oil, but you can never get addicted to CBD itself.

CBD Oil Is Not Illegal

Some people will tell you otherwise, but we’ve got a whole building full of expensive lawyers that have looked at this issue and assure us that it’s perfectly legal for you to purchase CBD oil online. In fact, there is no case that we know of where someone has been being convicted of a crime for buying or using CBD oil.

There are numerous cases of law enforcement agencies mistakenly raiding stores that sell CBD oil, but in almost all instances, the case is thrown out of court. The next time someone tells you that buying CBD oil is illegal, challenge them to find an incidence of someone being convicted of a crime for buying CBD oil.

Also, people will ask you, “if it’s legal then why are laws being passed in states to make it legal?” The laws aren’t being passed to make hemp CBD oil legal. They are being passed to make it legal for doctors to recommend the use of CBD for treating a disease.

How You Use CBD Oil Makes a Difference

Ten milligrams of vaped CBD and ten milligrams of edible CBD do not provide the same benefits and effects. Some methods of consumption have a higher bioavailability. That means more of it goes into your bloodstream.

Vaping has a very high bioavailability and almost instant effects. Edibles, on the other hand, have a much lower bioavailability and take longer to take effect. And tinctures fall somewhere in between. That doesn’t mean one is better than the other. Edibles are better for treating stomach and intestinal issues, for instance, because they deliver the CBD right where it’s needed.

There Are Two Categories of CBD Oil

You could break this down further, but for simplicity sake, there are two main types of CBD oil. There are full spectrum extracts and concentrates which contain the same ratio of cannabinoids and terpenes as the original plant. The combined effect of these compounds is known as the entourage effect.

And then there are CBD oils which are made with purified CBD isolate. There are different reasons to use them. Full-spectrum products are better for dietary supplementation, overall health, mood regulation, stress relief, and so on. CBD isolate is good for conditions involving the brain and central nervous system.

Epidiolex, the only drug made from cannabis which has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of some seizure disorders is essentially CBD isolate. Just keep in mind that 10 milligrams of CBD isolate gives you just that, whereas a serving of full-spectrum CBD oil that contains 10 milligrams of CBD also provides additional beneficial compounds such as terpenes and other cannabinoids.

Hemp Oil Is Not CBD Oil

Hemp oil is made from hemp seeds, just like corn oil is made from corn seeds. There’s no CBD in hemp oil. Hemp extract, on the other hand, is made from the plant’s flowers. CBD oil is made from hemp extract.

CBD Oil Won’t Cause You To Fail a Drug Test

CBD oil produced from hemp won’t cause you to fail a drug test. CBD is different enough from THC that it will not cause a false positive on a THC drug test. The most common test — urinalysis — only looks for metabolites of THC.
