What's the Correct Dosage of CBD?
Wondering how much CBD is enough CBD? It’s probably the question we get asked most often here at Diamond CBD. So let’s take a quick look at some of the factors that you’ll want to consider as you determine the best dosage for you.
Determine your CBD dosage:
It would be very difficult for you to take too much CBD, as it is non-toxic. No one has ever died from taking too much CBD. However, an excessive dose might chill you out more than intended while not doing much more good than a sensible dose of CBD. While not exceptionally dangerous, it is wasteful.
The most important piece of advice is to start small and work your way up.
Natural products like CBD affect everyone differently. As with any natural remedy, how much you should take depends on a lot of factors including your size, your metabolism, whether you’re taking it daily for health, the way you’re taking it, and if you’re taking it to treat something in particular.
It doesn’t take much CBD to supplement your body’s own natural endocannabinoids. Experts recommend starting with 5 to 25 milligrams a day depending on your size/weight. The average person might want to start with 10 milligrams.
Any product that you buy should tell you the total amount of CBD in the product, as well as a suggested serving size and the number of servings in the package. If the product does not tell you how much CBD is in the package, ask the manufacturer.
You'll have to do a little math to determine just how many drops to take or how many gummies to eat, etc.
EXAMPLE 1- OIL DROPS: If you’re taking 20mg a day of CBD, a product with 1,000 mg of CBD such as Diamond CBD 1,000mg CBD Oil will provide 50 doses. Commonly, CBD oil servings are measured in "drops." Check the label or ask the manufacturer to see how many recommended servings are in the bottle, divide that into the total amount of CBD. If their recommend serving contains 10 milligrams of CBD you'll need to take 2 servings to get to 20 milligrams. (This sounds like a lot of work, but once it's done, it's done.) Here's the formula:
Total CBD (mg) in package / number of suggested servings in package = amount of CBD mg per suggested serving
EXAMPLE 2 - EDIBLES: If you're using edibles such as gummy bears, a quick calculation will tell you how much CBD is in each. Simply divide the total amount of CBD by the number of gummies in the package. If that comes out to 5 milligrams per gummy bear, then you'll need 4 of them to get 20 milligrams of CBD.
NOTE: It's extremely important not to confuse the package size with the amount of CBD in the package. A 500-milliliter bottle of oil could contain 100 milligrams of CBD or it could contain 1,000 milligrams of CBD. It depends on the strength of the product. Again, read the label or check with the manufacturer.
...Then listen to your body
In order to determine your ideal dosage, you'll need to really become aware of your body and listen to what it's telling you.
After your first dosage, wait 3-4 hours before considering taking more. The effects can take anywhere from a few moment to take effect with vaping, to a half hour or more with tinctures, and up to an hour or more with edibles.
If you don't feel any effects at all, take a little higher dosage in a few hours. Once you get to a dosage where you start noticing a difference, it's best to remain at that dosage for a week or so. Track any changes in your energy levels, mental states, and overall health. With that knowledge, you can increase or decrease your dose accordingly until you achieve the desired effect. Don't make any big rises in dosage, just add a little at a time and watch for another week.
Using this "start small" method, you can get to a comfortable level where you're getting the effects you desire and not wasting money by taking more than you need.
